Your 3-day safari is packed with raw wilderness and unforgettable encounters.
You’ll fly from Zanzibar, skip the long drives, and dive straight into the wild with:
- Scenic flights with aerial views of the Tanzanian landscapes
- Big game drives in open-roof safari vehicles
- A romantic boat safari along the Rufiji River — spot hippos and crocs up close
- Guided walking safari for a thrilling look at the bush
- Overnight stays in authentic tented camps with wildlife right outside your canvas walls
Day 1: Zanzibar to Selous
- 06:00 AM: Early morning departure from Zanzibar Airport. Take a scenic flight to the Selous Game Reserve, flying low over the Indian Ocean and Tanzanian plains.
- 06:40 or 07:30 AM: Arrive in Selous (time may vary depending on number of airstrip stops). Greeted by your professional safari guide and driven straight into the reserve.
- Morning to Evening: Full-day game drive begins. Spot elephants crashing through bushes, giraffes peeking through acacia trees, and lions lounging in the golden grass.
- Midday: Enjoy a bush-style picnic lunch out in the reserve, with the soundtrack of nature all around.
- Evening: Arrive at Selous Safari Lodge, your home in the wild. Freshen up, sip a cold drink as the sun dips behind the horizon, and enjoy dinner under the stars.
Overnight: Selous Safari Lodge (a beautiful new lodge nestled in one of Selous’ most game-rich areas).
Day 2: Full-Day Game Drive – Wild Encounters
- Morning: After a hearty breakfast, depart again for a full-day game drive. With vast landscapes and fewer crowds than the northern parks, Selous offers a truly untamed experience.
- Throughout the Day: Keep your eyes peeled for lions, wild dogs, buffaloes, crocodiles, and hundreds of bird species.
- Picnic Lunch: Served in the wild, surrounded by raw African beauty.
- Evening: Return to the lodge for a hot shower, cold drink, and a delicious dinner. Share stories around the fire before drifting off to the sounds of hyenas and crickets.
- Overnight: Selous Safari Lodge.
Day 3: Boat Safari, Village Tour & Return to Zanzibar
- 06:30 AM: Start your day with a peaceful boat safari along the mighty Rufiji River — watch hippos yawn and crocodiles slide silently into the water.
- 08:00 AM: Return to the lodge for breakfast.
- 10:00 AM: Head out for a cultural village tour, getting a glimpse of local life and traditions. It’s a soulful contrast to the wild scenes of the past two days.
- 12:30 PM: Return to the lodge for lunch and time to relax.
- 03:30 PM: Transfer to the airstrip.
- 04:00 PM: Flight departs Selous for Zanzibar.
- 04:40 PM: Arrival in Zanzibar and transfer to your hotel. The wilderness may be behind you — but the memories last forever.
