Day 1: Zanzibar → Selous – River Safari & Lodge Life

06:00 AM – We pick you up from your hotel in Zanzibar and transfer you to the airport.

07:00 AM – Take off for a short, scenic 1-hour flight to Selous. Look out the window—savannahs, rivers, and rolling hills await below.

08:00 AM – Touch down at Selous airstrip. You’ll be welcomed by our expert safari guide and offered refreshments before the adventure begins.

08:30 AM – Buckle up for your first game drive! We roam across woodlands and plains in search of elephants, lions, giraffes, buffalo, zebras, and more. You’ll feel like you're inside a wildlife documentary.

11:00 AM – Stop for a bush tea or coffee break. Stretch your legs and take in the peace of the wild.

12:30 PM – Arrive at Lake Manze Camp. Built to blend with nature, this lodge is shaded by palms and surrounded by wildlife. Enjoy a delicious lunch and relax.

02:30 PM – Time for a romantic boat safari on the Rufiji River. Glide past crocodiles sunbathing on the banks, pods of hippos bobbing in the water, and birds soaring overhead. The light, the silence, the thrill — unforgettable.

05:00 PM – Return to camp. Freshen up in your tent as monkeys chatter in the trees and the golden sun dips behind the lake.

07:00 PM – Dinner under the stars. As the campfire crackles, share stories and listen to the haunting calls of hyenas and distant lions.

Overnight at Lake Manze Camp – A true African bush experience.

Day 2: Walk the Wild & Return to Zanzibar

06:00 AM – Wake early for a sunrise game drive. The best time to catch predators on the move! Watch as the bush wakes up — lions, leopards, jackals, and grazing herds.

08:00 AM – Return to camp for a hearty bush breakfast.

09:30 AM – Set out on a walking safari with a ranger. You’ll track prints, learn about medicinal plants, and get closer to nature than ever before. Hear every bird call. See every ant track. It’s nature, raw and personal.

11:00 AM – Back to camp. Refresh and relax before your journey home.

12:00 PM – Enjoy a final lunch with the lake in view.

01:30 PM – Transfer to the airstrip. The animals wave goodbye (sometimes literally).

02:00 PM – Board your flight to Zanzibar.

03:00 PM – Land in Zanzibar. Transfer back to your hotel with stories, smiles, and soul-stirring memories.

2 Days Selous Safari from Zanzibar FAQs

What is the best time of the year to take this trip?

June to October is peak safari season — dry, easy to spot animals, and beautiful weather.

November to March is greener, quieter, and perfect for photographers.

We run tours year-round!

Selous doesn’t have rhinos, but you’ll likely spot elephants, lions, buffaloes, and possibly leopards.

And don’t miss the hippos, crocs, and wild dogs!

Light clothes, a wide-brim hat, 🕶️ sunglasses, and comfortable closed shoes.

Don’t forget:

  • Sunscreen
  • Camera
  • Light jacket for early morning

Pack light but smart:

  • Passport (you’ll need it for the flight)
  • Hat & sunglasses (the sun gets real)
  • Camera or phone
  • Light jacket for early morning or flight
  • Comfortable shoe
  • Some cash for souvenirs or tips

You can try, but flights fill fast. Reserve your flight immediately after booking the tour for guaranteed availability!
