3 Days Tarangire,Ngorongoro Crater and Maasai village

Detailed Itinerary of the Trip

  • 1
Day 1: Arrival in Arusha to Tarangire National Park

Arrival in Arusha Airport Early morning around 8: 30 and head towards Tarangire a 2 hrs drive from the Airport.
Located north of Tanzania, Tarangire National Park is one of the most beautiful safari parks in Tanzania, and is named after the river that runs through it, specifically the Tarangire River, which stretches to Lake Manyara National Park. Tarangire Park, also known as Tarangire National Park, is characterized by wild and fascinating views where the savannah dominates.
Tarangire National Park covers an area of 2,600 square kilometres, and is dotted with enormous baobabs, spectacular trees of incredible dimensions (they can reach heights of up to 25 m), particularly long-lasting and resistant with bloated trunks and bizarre, often bare foliage that looks very much like a root system. Though an iconic African tree known all over the world, it is also a source of food and medicine for locals, and is considered sacred by many tribes.
We consider Tarangire National Park a must-see destination for all our safaris in Tanzania. This is why we have included it in all our itineraries, including the group safaris we offer, because of its uniqueness and the sheer number of animals that can be found there.
The most popular routes in the park are certainly those that wind along the river, where you are more likely to see a majority of animals. Also of interest, and only in the dry season, are the southern swamps that feed the Tarangire River, where thousands of buffaloes and elephants go in search of cooling mud. Outside the park, you can make an interesting excursion to Lake Burunge, marked by shores dotted with the characteristic plants of euphorbia candelabrum, and shallow alkaline waters; an ideal place for flocks of flamingos between July and November. Moreover, during the dry season, the shallow depth further reduces the width of the lake, which then becomes for the most part an extensive salt crust. Full day Gamedrive and later evening head to Karatu or Manyara for overnight, Heart and soul lodge / marera valley lodge / or foresight Ecolodge depending on availability

Day 2: Early morning after breakfast head to Ngorongoro Crater

The Crater is located within the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, a protected region in Tanzania that comprises a large chunk of the southern Serengeti’s short-grass plains and the Ngorongoro Highlands, a range of ancient volcanoes on the west side of the Great Rift Valley. The Ngorongoro Crater has earned a fabled reputation as one of Africa's most unique natural wonders, boasting a remarkable concentration of animals living in diverse habitats.
The Ngorongoro Crater is approximately 16 to 19 kilometres (10 to 12 miles) in diameter, and the height of its walls range between 400 and 610 metres (1,312 and 2,000 feet) – more than 1.5 times higher than the Empire State Building. There are a few calderas around the world, but the Ngorongoro Crater is unique because it’s the biggest one with fully intact (unbroken) walls and hasn’t filled up with water
Thanks to the mineral-rich volcanic soil, the short-grass plains grow lush on the Crater’s floor, which provide nutritious grazing for a plethora of herbivores. These big herds in turn attract a remarkable number of predators – the densest populations found anywhere in Africa.
The Crater’s resident lion population is arguably one of the highest densities of prides in the world. This is one of the Ngorongoro Crater facts that makes it such a popular safari destination. Consequently, the lions here have a complete disregard of safari vehicles – they will hunt within metres of a vehicle and even seek respite from the sun beside one!
Completing the team of predators in the Crater are spotted hyenas, cheetahs, leopards, jackals and bat-eared foxes.
Ngorongoro Crater for Gamedrive till lunch then head to Ngoitokitok Springs for hot lunch then continue with game till late evening then head to lodge for overnight

Day 3: After Breakfast head to Maasai village for cultural Encounter with the maasai

people dress as they do and assist in their dances and
One of the most famous tribes in Africa have to be the Maasai, known for their bright red tunics, jumping feats and intricate jewellery.
These people still lead a nomadic existence and move from place to place with their herds of cattle. The tribes became famous due to the fact that they live in proximity to some of Africa's most famous reserves. This is the tribe visitors are most likely to encounter on a cultural safari in Tanzania.
Visitors can spend some time learning about these friendly people. In some areas you can visit local tribes who still practice their ancient way of life. This is no cultural village, but an authentic experience that allows you to experience another culture.
Song and dance are very important aspects of their culture and singing in harmony is common.
later evening head to Arusha Airport for drop off
